Mi’kmaq Legends is a contemporary theatrical experience that combines poetry, music, dance, and theatre, performed by the Mi’kmaq Heritage Actors. Running time is approximately 50 minutes. PEI Mi’Kmaq Legends will be performing Sunday, July 23rd at the Souris Show Hall. New legends are continually being added to the repertoire in a collaborative creation process that involves the writer, cast, community and sometimes, even the audience. The Mi’kmaq Confederacy of Prince Edward Island’s mission is to strengthen the Mi’kmaq people of PEI by: promoting knowledge and understanding of Mi’kmaw rights, culture and traditions; providing a common forum for PEI First Nations to advance Treaty and Aboriginal rights; developing capacity within First Nation communities; and working collaboratively with other government and community organizations dedicated to supporting the well-being of Mi’kmaq people.
